Ironic Truth
November to February is Goa's blue-sky high season; monsoon flips the value table.
Two demand mountains — Dec–Jan from domestic and Russian winter travellers, and an Apr–May Indian school-holiday spike — separated by the lowest off-season anywhere on the Konkan coast.

Actually. For Indian families, recommend Nov 15–Dec 20 (post-Diwali, pre-NYE surge) or early Feb — the price/weather ratio is sharpest.

Arrival
Arriving GOI
Dabolim International Airport (GOI) — primary; Manohar International Airport (GOX, Mopa) handles most north-Goa traffic since 2023
1
Choosing your airportGOI (Dabolim, south Goa)Closer to Panaji, Old Goa, south beaches (Colva, Palolem). Indian Navy joint-use airbase — civilian slots are limited.
GOX (Mopa, north Goa)Opened Jan 2023. Closer to Calangute, Baga, Morjim, Anjuna, Arambol. Most international and new domestic capacity is shifting here.
Rule of thumbNorth Goa stay → fly into GOX. South Goa stay → fly into GOI. The cross-state drive between them is 70 km and 2.5 hours.
2
Airport to hotel (private taxi)GOI → Calangute/Baga (north)45–75 min by toll bridge (≈45 km), ₹1,400–1,800

GOI → Palolem (deep south)60–80 min (≈70 km), ₹1,800–2,200
GOX → Calangute/Baga45–60 min (≈40 km), ₹1,200–1,500
GOX → Anjuna/Morjim/Arambol30–55 min (≈30–45 km), ₹1,000–1,400
GOX → Panaji60–75 min (≈40 km), ₹1,400–1,700

Self-drive carZoomcar / Avis pickup at both airports; ₹1,800–2,500/day for an automatic. Best option if you are spanning north and south.
4
SIM and connectivityJio / Airtel tourist eSIMCounters at both airports — ₹600–1,200 for 28 days + ~2 GB/day. Goa coverage is 4G/5G end to end except inside Chorla and Mhadei sanctuary.
Hotel Wi-FiReliable in 3-star+ properties; beach shacks are hit-or-miss. Don't depend on it for video calls.

28–31 December 2026 (dates TBC)
Sunburn Festival (electronic music)
Asia's biggest EDM festival, traditionally at Vagator. Headliners 2026 not yet announced; expect 70,000+ daily and lockdown traffic across north Goa.
If clients are not Sunburn-going, avoid Vagator/Anjuna for the last week of December entirely — stay south of the Mandovi.
Culture
India (Goa) Etiquette
Do
Dress modestly when entering churches and temples — cover shoulders and knees; remove shoes at temple entrances.
Carry small change in ₹10/20/50 notes for shack staff, beach vendors and church donation boxes.
Respect beach susegad — Goans move slowly; rushing servers in Calangute or Palolem rarely speeds anything up.
Ask before photographing fishermen mending nets, ramoshi flag-bearers at processions, or inside any sanctum.
Tip casino dealers a small ₹100–200 chip when leaving a winning table — it is local etiquette on the river boats.
Don't
Do not wear swimwear or beach attire into villages, churches, restaurants or the Latin Quarter — change at your hotel or shack first.
Do not drink-and-drive scooters or bikes — Goa Police run heavy checkpoints on the Calangute–Baga and Anjuna stretches every night.
Do not buy 'tourist gold' or gemstones from beach hawkers — it is almost always fake and the bargaining is a long-con.
Do not light fires, play loud music or use single-use plastic on the beaches — fines under the Goa Beach Bye-laws are ₹5,000+.
