Ironic Truth

Sentosa runs hottest during the F1 night race (Sep) and the year-end Christmas/NYE wave — book RWS hotels 60+ days out for both.

Equatorial weather means no clean dry-season window. Demand follows the school-holiday and event calendar more than the weather.

~19–20 March 2026 (public holiday 20 Mar)

medium
End of Ramadan. Geylang Serai bazaar (45 min from Sentosa by MRT) runs nightly with food stalls, lights and clothing markets through the fasting month. Quiet day on Sentosa itself.

December is the highest-demand month after F1 weekend. Universal Studios Express Passes (skip-the-line) sell out 7–10 days ahead for Dec 20–31.
~8 November 2026 (public holiday 9 Nov)
Deepavali (Festival of Lights)
medium
Little India's Serangoon Road light-up runs 4 weeks. Strong Indian-Singaporean turnout; thali specials at restaurants. Sentosa hotels run Deepavali high-tea promotions targeting Indian guests.
Culture

Singapore Etiquette

Do
Tap-in and tap-out with an EZ-Link or contactless card on the Sentosa Express, MRT and buses — no paper tickets.
Return your tray and clear your table at hawker centres and food courts on Sentosa — the tray-return rule is enforced with on-the-spot fines.
Queue single-file at every attraction, ride, cable car gondola and Sentosa Express platform — cutting the line is a social red flag here.
Carry sunscreen, a refillable water bottle and a swim cover-up — the equatorial sun on Siloso/Palawan/Tanjong is brutal between 11:00 and 15:00.
Pre-book Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium and Mega Adventure timed slots online — walk-up tickets sell out on weekends and school holidays.
Don't
Do not chew gum (importing or selling is illegal; chewing in public can earn a fine) and do not jaywalk — both are actively enforced.
Do not smoke or vape outside designated yellow-box smoking points on Sentosa beaches, boardwalks or near attractions — fine starts at SGD 200.
Do not eat, drink or bring durian onto the MRT, Sentosa Express or RWS-bound buses — fines from SGD 300 (durian is banned outright).
Do not tip on top of the 10% service charge and 9% GST already on every restaurant bill — staff are paid, and extra tipping isn't expected.
Do not feed or chase the long-tailed macaques along the Imbiah and Mount Faber trails — they are protected and bite when provoked.
Tipping Guide
Restaurant (service charge already on bill)Not expected — round up only for exceptional service
Hotel porter (RWS, Capella, Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa)SGD 2–5 per bag
Private driver / chauffeured transfer (half-day)SGD 20–30 per trip

Spa therapist (ESPA at RWS, So SPA at Sofitel)5–10% if no service charge
Housekeeping (per night)SGD 2–5 left visibly on the pillow
Key Phrase

Fort Siloso & Skywalk

Singapore's only preserved coastal artillery fort, with a 11-storey treetop skywalk that's free to enter.
Built by the British in the 1880s and surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, Fort Siloso now houses restored gun emplacements, tunnels and the Surrender Chambers waxwork museum. The 181 m Skywalk and lift to the canopy were added in 2015.
Locals Say
Take the free Sentosa Beach Tram to the Siloso Point terminus, then walk five minutes up. The Skywalk is open until 22:00 — sunset over Keppel Harbour from the top deck is the best free view on the island.

Tanjong Beach (south-east end)

The quiet, palm-fringed end of Sentosa where locals come for actual beach days — not Insta tours.
Crescent-shaped beach tucked behind Sentosa Cove. Tanjong Beach Club anchors the strip with weekend brunch, but walk 100 m east and the sand is almost empty, with views of cargo ships in the Singapore Strait.
Locals Say
Skip the Sentosa Express last stop (Beach Station) and take Bus B on the island to Tanjong directly — saves 1.2 km of walking in the equatorial heat.

Henderson Waves bridge to Mount Faber cable car

Singapore's most photographed pedestrian bridge — and the back-door way onto Sentosa.
274 m undulating timber-and-steel bridge at 36 m above Henderson Road, opened in 2008 as the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. Connects Telok Blangah Hill to Mount Faber Park, where the cable car drops down onto Sentosa.
Locals Say
Do it the other way round: cable car from Sentosa up to Mount Faber, walk Henderson Waves down to Telok Blangah at sunset, MRT back from HarbourFront. Avoids the Express crowds.
North · 1.5 km from HarbourFront MRT away
Best: 17:30–19:30 (sunset and night lighting)

Madame Tussauds + Images of Singapore Live

Forgotten by most tourists — but the only place on Sentosa that tells Singapore's nation-building story.
Combined attraction at Imbiah Lookout. The 'Images of Singapore Live' walk-through covers Raffles' 1819 landing, kampong life, Japanese Occupation and independence — with live actors. Madame Tussauds adds the photo-op figures.
Locals Say
Buy the combined ticket online (SGD 41 vs. SGD 49 at the gate) and time it for a 14:00 start — the live performances run until 17:00, by which point most cruise-day-tour groups have moved on.
Imbiah · 700 m from Sentosa Express Imbiah station away
Best: 14:00–17:00 weekdays
