Actually. Two peak seasons: ski (Dec–Mar) and summer (Jun–Aug). November is the only month Switzerland takes a breath. Bollywood's favourite backdrop charges Bollywood prices.

Movie Quote

I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for. Because it's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something.

Switzerland Etiquette

Do
Be punctual — Swiss culture runs on precision; arriving even 5 minutes late is considered rude
Greet with 'Grüezi' (Swiss-German) in Zurich/Bern or 'Bonjour' in Geneva/Lausanne
Separate your rubbish meticulously — recycling is a civic duty and rules are strict
Respect quiet hours (Ruhezeit): no noisy activities on Sundays or after 10 PM on weekdays
Make eye contact when clinking glasses and say 'Prost' (cheers); touch each person's glass individually
Don't
Don't do laundry on Sundays in apartment buildings — it violates community house rules in most places
Don't jaywalk — even if the street is empty, Swiss pedestrians wait for the green light
Don't be loud on trains; the Swiss cherish their quiet carriages and will politely correct you
Don't flush the toilet or shower after 10 PM in some older apartment buildings — noise rules apply
Don't expect everything to be open on Sundays — most shops close, plan your shopping for Saturday

Creux du Van

Switzerland's own Grand Canyon — minus the crowds
A massive natural rocky amphitheatre in the Jura mountains near Neuchâtel, Creux du Van features 160-metre vertical limestone cliffs forming a perfect horseshoe shape. Wild ibex (Alpine goats) roam the rim completely unafraid of hikers. While tourists flock to Interlaken and Zermatt, this geological wonder sees a fraction of the visitors despite being equally dramatic.
Locals Say
Take the train to Noiraigue and hike up via the 'Sentier des 14 contours' (14 switchbacks) — about 1.5 hours. Arrive by 8 AM to see ibex on the rim before they retreat from the midday sun.
140 km from Zurich (1.5 hrs by train to Noiraigue + 1.5 hr hike) away
Best: June to October; early morning for ibex sightings and clear views
